Nonpublic Data

MIT SuperCloud may be used for data and software categorized as Low or Medium risk according to MIT IS&T’s guidelines. These categorizes include:

  • Not yet published research products which often includes anonymized human subject research. Please defer to your COUHES approval for the official categorization.
  • Department of Defense data or software used on MIT SuperCloud which must have gone through release review as Distribution A or be subject to a valid Fundamental Research exemption (often called an H001 exemption) to be used on MIT SuperCloud

Categories of Data That Cannot be Used on MIT SuperCloud

Any U.S. Government data or software that requires special handling, including:

  • Information labeled Controlled Unclassified (CUI) or For Official Use Only (FOUO)

  • Data or software that is export controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
